Lumb(a)er Support
Do we really need to be sitting on a chair to have body support, or are there other ways to get support and still relax? “Lumb(a)er support” tests the idea of body support. This piece of furniture is used by leaning on it with one elbow and one knee. The elbow is placed on the top cushion and the knee is placed on the lower, curved, cushion, which can be adjusted to the desired height. The position this piece puts the body in, encourages straight posture. Along with its many features, it also provides a table for extra space as well as side handles for more balance. As the sole purpose of this piece is support, a side cushion is presented to further assist the knee. The twist about "Lumb(a)er support" is that it needs the user’s body to balance it, it can’t stand up straight unless it’s being used. It demands the user to use it in a specific way, and it needs the user as much as the user needs it. The user and "Lumb(a)er support" both support each other.
